Welcome to the Counseling Practice

of Michael Loftis, L.C.S.W.

I provide counseling in Murfreesboro, TN with a focus on individuals struggling with relationships.  I see couples that are married, divorced, separated, engaged, as well as, those questioning their current relational status.  I work with blended and step families as they are adjusting to the multiple concerns that arise during the preliminary and middle phases of a multi-family union.  I also help individuals resolve their past, present, and future dilemma by meeting them where they are and by helping them clarify their innermost hopes and desires.

Headshot of Michael Loftis

Each of these groups can have presenting struggles that interfere with their ability to have fulfilling life phases.  In addition, some have past events that still affect their present decisions and daily choices.  It is always important to rule out any medical concerns that might be causing any psychiatric issues.  I will make medical and psychiatric referrals when it seems like someone would benefit from a medication evaluation.

I offer a variety of treatment modalities that help all of these groups of people.  For those with anxiety struggles, I use a 10 point plan to reduce the frequency and intensity of their symptoms.  For those who have depression, I use a self worth tool to help improve the defeating thoughts that affect their total essence.  Words have power and they can totally incompacitate a person.  As people fight off shameful beliefs and realize who they really are, they soon begin seeing themselves as a person of worth and value.

Some have benefited from the involvement in a particular area of faith.  I would encourage those who have an affinity with some spiritual group to seek that group out for their support.  Since my primary concern is to make sure you find the assistance you need, if you need further resources, I recommend these psychiatry and counseling references, as well as these online counseling options.
